Bearing Maintenance – ADL

Steel Dynamics, Inc. is hiring a full-time Bearing Maintenance technician (ADL) at its Aluminum Dynamics facility in Fairlane, Lowndes County — a hands-on maintenance role at the heart of a world-class aluminum rolling operation.

About the Role

As a Bearing Maintenance technician supporting the Aluminum Dynamics line, you will be responsible for keeping mill roll chocks in peak operating condition. Your work directly supports continuous, safe production by ensuring that bearing assemblies and wear components meet precise quality standards before rolls return to service. This is an on-site, full-time position at our Fairlane, Lowndes County location.

What You'll Do

• Safely disassemble, clean, inspect, and reassemble chocks and bearing components for all mill rolls in the aluminum rolling line
• Install bearings and wear liners into chocks to specified tolerances, following documented procedures and safety protocols
• Operate overhead cranes and mobile material-handling equipment to move chocks and related components throughout the shop
• Execute scheduled preventive maintenance inspections on chock and bearing assemblies
• Diagnose bearing wear patterns and identify components requiring replacement before reassembly
• Record all maintenance activities, component statuses, and parts usage accurately in the RSMS maintenance tracking system
• Maintain a clean, organized work area and follow all facility safety standards at all times

What We're Looking For

• Hands-on mechanical aptitude with experience in industrial maintenance, bearing work, or heavy equipment teardown and rebuild
• Familiarity with overhead crane operation or willingness to obtain certification
• Ability to read and interpret maintenance procedures and equipment specifications
• Attention to detail when performing inspections and entering data into computerized maintenance management systems
• Commitment to workplace safety in a heavy industrial environment
• Prior experience in a steel, aluminum, or metals manufacturing setting is a plus
