West Virginia K-12 Jobs is seeking a dedicated Extra Duty FFA Advisor to join the team at Wood County Technical Center, part of Wood County Schools, serving students across West Virginia.

About the Role

This full-time extra duty assignment places an enthusiastic agricultural educator at the heart of student leadership development. As the FFA Advisor at Wood County Technical Center, you will guide the local FFA chapter, empowering young people to grow as leaders, problem-solvers, and agricultural advocates. This is an in-person, on-site position serving the Wood County Schools community.

What You'll Do

  • Lead and coordinate all activities of the school's FFA chapter, including meetings, events, and competitions at the local, district, and state levels
  • Mentor students in agricultural career exploration, supervised agricultural experience (SAE) programs, and leadership skill-building
  • Plan and oversee chapter participation in Career Development Events (CDEs) and Leadership Development Events (LDEs)
  • Maintain accurate chapter records, financial accounts, and required documentation in alignment with state and national FFA guidelines
  • Coordinate community service initiatives and promote the chapter's visibility within Wood County and the broader West Virginia agricultural community
  • Collaborate with school administration, agriculture teachers, and local industry partners to strengthen program outcomes
  • Support students in applying for FFA degrees, scholarships, and awards

What We're Looking For

  • Valid West Virginia teaching certificate, preferably with an endorsement or background in agricultural education
  • Demonstrated knowledge of FFA programs, structure, and student development philosophy
  • Experience advising or participating in FFA or similar youth leadership organizations
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple events and deadlines simultaneously
  • Effective communicator who builds trust with students, parents, and school staff
  • Willingness to attend evening and weekend events as required by the FFA calendar
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive, student-centered chapter environment
