Federal Work Study – Human Resources

This Federal Work Study position places an enrolled student directly within the Human Resources department at Elgin Community College, providing hands-on administrative and operational support. What You'll Do

• Provide day-to-day administrative support to HR staff, including document preparation and correspondence
• Organize, scan, and maintain employee and candidate records in compliance with confidentiality requirements
• Assist with data entry and record-keeping in HR information systems
• Support onboarding activities such as collecting and processing new-hire paperwork
• Help coordinate interview scheduling and candidate communications
• Respond to general HR inquiries by phone and email, directing questions to appropriate staff
• Assist with filing, auditing, and updating personnel files and HR documents
• Complete additional projects and tasks as assigned by HR team members

What We're Looking For

• Current eligibility for the Federal Work Study financial aid program (verified through Financial Aid)
• Enrollment as a student in good academic standing
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to handle sensitive information with discretion
• Dependable, self-motivated, and able to manage tasks with minimal supervision
• Effective written and verbal communication skills
• Interest in human resources, business administration, or a related field is a plus
