PHD LOGISTICS LLC is seeking an experienced CDL A Contract Driver (1099) for OTR flatbed routes based out of Oro Valley, Pima County. If you value independence, steady long-haul miles, and the freedom that comes with running as a 1099 owner-operator, this opportunity is built for you.
About the Role
This is a full-time, solo over-the-road (OTR) driving position handling flatbed trailers, with additional exposure to refrigerated and dry van freight. As an independent contract driver, you'll cover long-distance lanes while managing your own schedule on the road. Weekly gross pay averages between $1,000 and $1,800, with typical routes spanning roughly 1,600 to 3,000 miles per week.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate flatbed trailers safely over long-haul OTR routes, with occasional refrigerated and dry van loads
- Secure freight properly, including tarping on approximately 25% of loads
- Maintain consistent on-time delivery across multi-state lanes
- Plan routes efficiently to hit weekly mileage targets of 1,600 to 3,000 miles
- No driver-assisted loading or unloading required
Qualifications
- Valid Class A commercial driver's license (CDL A)
- License must be free of disqualifying restrictions (such as L or Z)
- Willingness to operate as a 1099 independent contractor
- Comfortable spending an expected 5 to 14 days out on the road per trip
- Flatbed and tarping experience preferred
Home Time
- Earn one day of home time for every five days worked
- Expect 5 to 14 days out before returning home
- Home for at least one weekend each month
