Physicist – Radiation Oncology – Sioux Falls

Sanford Health is hiring a full-time Physicist in Radiation Oncology to join our Cancer Center team in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. In this role, you will help deliver precise, technically advanced cancer treatment to patients across America's heartland.

About the Role

As a Radiation Oncology Physicist with Sanford Health in Sioux Falls, you will support the safe and accurate delivery of radiation therapy within our Cancer Center Building. This is a day-shift position working standard 8-hour shifts at 40 hours per week, collaborating closely with radiation oncologists, dosimetrists, and therapists to ensure every treatment meets the highest standards of quality and patient safety.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, review, and verify radiation treatment plans to ensure accurate dose delivery for each patient.
• Perform commissioning, calibration, and routine quality assurance on linear accelerators and related treatment equipment.
• Oversee radiation safety programs and maintain compliance with regulatory and accreditation requirements.
• Provide medical physics expertise and guidance to the clinical care team.
• Support advanced treatment techniques and contribute to ongoing improvements in oncology care.

Qualifications

• Graduate education in medical physics, physics, or a closely related field.
• Background or training in radiation oncology medical physics.
• Strong attention to detail with a commitment to patient safety and treatment accuracy.
• Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary oncology team.
• Professional certification in therapeutic medical physics is valued where applicable.
