Rockford Public School District #205 is seeking a dedicated Social Work Intern to gain hands-on experience supporting student well-being within our Special Education department in the US. This full-time, on-site internship offers an immersive opportunity to grow under the guidance of experienced school social work professionals.
About the Role
As a Social Work Intern with Rockford Public School District #205, you will work alongside our Special Education team and report to the Assistant Principal of Social Work. This stipend-based, full-time internship is designed for emerging social work practitioners who want to apply their training in a real-world K-12 educational setting and make a meaningful difference in students' lives.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the delivery of school social work services to students within the Special Education department.
- Assist licensed social workers in assessing student needs and connecting families with appropriate resources.
- Help develop and carry out intervention strategies that promote student social, emotional, and academic success.
- Maintain accurate documentation and records in line with district and special education guidelines.
- Collaborate with educators, administrators, and support staff to foster a positive learning environment.
Qualifications
- Current enrollment in a social work degree or internship program requiring a supervised field placement.
- Genuine interest in school social work and supporting students with special education needs.
- Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work full-time on-site and collaborate within a team of professionals.
- Commitment to confidentiality, empathy, and the well-being of every student.
