Project Manager – Power (Multiple Locations)

Burns & McDonnell is seeking an experienced Project Manager - Power to join our energy storage practice in the Illinois Medical District, Chicago. In this full-time role, you will guide complex power and energy storage projects from initial concept through to commissioning, delivering the integrated, turnkey expertise our clients rely on.

About the Role

As a Project Manager - Power at Burns & McDonnell, you will lead the planning and execution of energy storage initiatives, coordinating every phase of delivery. Our team supports clients across the full project lifecycle — from siting and permitting through design, construction, and startup — and you will be central to keeping these efforts on schedule, on budget, and aligned with client expectations. This position is based in Chicago, with the role available across multiple locations.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage power and energy storage projects from conception through turnkey completion and startup.
• Oversee siting, permitting, design, and construction activities to ensure smooth, integrated delivery.
• Track project scope, budgets, and timelines, proactively addressing risks and changes.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, stakeholders, and internal project teams.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary teams to apply Burns & McDonnell's storage technology expertise effectively.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience managing power, energy, or infrastructure projects.
• Strong knowledge of project delivery across siting, permitting, design, construction, and commissioning phases.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder-management skills.
• Ability to balance competing priorities while maintaining quality, schedule, and budget discipline.
• Willingness to work on-site from the Chicago location (this role is not remote).
