Director, AI Strategy

Alkermes is seeking a Director, AI Strategy in Waltham, Middlesex County, to drive responsible and high-impact artificial intelligence adoption across the enterprise from within the INDIGO AI Innovation Lab. About the Role

As Director, AI Strategy, you will act as a company-wide thought partner and momentum builder for AI initiatives spanning Commercial, R&D, and Operations. Based at Alkermes in Waltham, you will translate ambitious business goals into practical, value-driven AI roadmaps while championing governance and accountability at every step. This is an enterprise-level position for a leader who can connect technical possibility with real business outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Partner with leaders across functional areas to co-develop business-led AI strategies and roadmaps.
• Identify and quantify the value of AI opportunities to prioritize the highest-return investments.
• Build, implement, and operate enterprise AI governance frameworks that support responsible adoption.
• Lead broad enablement efforts to grow AI literacy and capability across the company.
• Serve as a catalyst for trustworthy, ethical, and high-value AI use within the INDIGO AI Innovation Lab.

Qualifications

• Proven experience defining and executing AI or technology strategy at an enterprise scale.
• Strong ability to size value opportunities and align AI initiatives with measurable business priorities.
• Familiarity with establishing governance, risk, and responsible-AI practices.
• Excellent cross-functional collaboration and influencing skills across Commercial, R&D, and Operations.
• A consultative, business-first mindset paired with comfort navigating emerging AI technologies.
