About the Role
As a Transportation Planner at Clayton Homes, you will coordinate the flow of shipments, optimize delivery routes, and ensure that home components and materials reach their destinations safely, on time, and at the lowest practical cost. Working from a US-based, on-site location, you'll collaborate with carriers, vendors, and internal teams to keep our vertically integrated supply chain running smoothly. This is a hands-on planning role for someone who thrives on solving logistics puzzles and improving how things get from point A to point B.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, schedule, and coordinate inbound and outbound transportation across multiple routes and regions
- Optimize load planning and routing to balance cost, capacity, and on-time performance
- Partner with carriers, drivers, and freight providers to confirm pickups, deliveries, and service standards
- Track shipments, resolve delays, and proactively communicate status updates to stakeholders
- Analyze transportation data and metrics to identify efficiency and cost-saving opportunities
- Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with safety and regulatory requirements
Qualifications
- Experience in transportation planning, logistics, dispatch, or supply chain coordination
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple shipments and priorities at once
- Comfort working with transportation management or routing software and spreadsheets
- Clear written and verbal communication for coordinating with carriers and internal teams
- Detail-oriented, analytical mindset with a focus on problem-solving and continuous improvement
- Authorization to work full-time in the US in an on-site capacity
