About the Role

This full-time, evening-based position is part of Lawrence Hall's Transitional and Independent Living Program in Rogers Park, Chicago. As a Life Skills Educator, you will support young adults between the ages of 18 and 21 as they build the practical, emotional, and social tools needed to thrive on their own. Working primarily during evening shifts, you will create a safe, supportive environment grounded in empowerment, respect, and teamwork.

Key Responsibilities

  • Mentor and coach young adults ages 18 to 21 as they transition toward independent living.
  • Teach essential daily living skills such as budgeting, cooking, household management, and personal wellness.
  • Provide consistent, trauma-informed guidance and support during evening hours.
  • Foster a culture of safety, respect, and healing for the youth in the program.
  • Collaborate with program staff and the broader team to encourage each young adult's growth and goal achievement.

Qualifications

  • Genuine commitment to working with young adults affected by trauma.
  • Strong interpersonal, mentoring, and communication abilities.
  • Availability to work evening shifts in a full-time, on-site capacity.
