Calpine is hiring a full-time Process Control Engineering Specialist III to strengthen the automation and control systems that keep its power generation fleet running safely and efficiently across the United States.
About the Role
As a Process Control Engineering Specialist III at Calpine, you will apply advanced expertise in industrial control systems to support reliable, high-performance power plant operations. This is an on-site, full-time position based in the US, ideal for an engineer who thrives at the intersection of automation technology and large-scale energy production.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, configure, and maintain distributed control systems (DCS), PLCs, and related process control instrumentation.
- Troubleshoot, tune, and optimize control loops to improve plant reliability, efficiency, and output.
- Support commissioning, upgrades, and ongoing maintenance of automation hardware and software.
- Collaborate with operations and maintenance teams to diagnose and resolve control-related issues.
- Document system changes and uphold safety, compliance, and engineering standards.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience in process control or instrumentation engineering, typically at a senior (Specialist III) level.
- Working knowledge of DCS, PLC, and SCADA platforms used in industrial or power generation environments.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on system reliability.
- Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary plant operations teams.
- Eligibility to work full-time, on-site, within the United States.
