As a Bankruptcy Paralegal based in New York City, you will work alongside attorneys supporting a creditor-focused bankruptcy practice. This on-site position centers on the practical mechanics of bankruptcy litigation — preparing and submitting filings, tracking deadlines, and keeping cases moving smoothly through state and federal courts. Key Responsibilities
- Assist attorneys with the drafting, filing, and service of legal documents in New York, New Jersey, and federal bankruptcy courts.
- Prepare court submissions accurately and in line with each jurisdiction's procedural requirements.
- Maintain and monitor case calendars, ensuring all deadlines and hearing dates are met.
- Verify that filings and case activity adhere to applicable local rules and court standards.
- Provide ongoing organizational and administrative support across the firm's local and nationwide bankruptcy matters.
Qualifications
- Proven, hands-on experience working as a paralegal within a bankruptcy practice.
- Working knowledge of bankruptcy procedures in New York, New Jersey, and federal courts.
- Familiarity with electronic court filing systems and document service requirements.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage calendars and competing deadlines.
- Careful attention to detail and a firm grasp of compliance with local court rules.
