Substitute Teacher

Union Gap School District 2 is seeking dependable, student-focused educators to join our roster of substitute teachers in Union Gap, Yakima County. As a Substitute Teacher, you will step in for our regular classroom staff and keep learning on track for students across our schools.

About the Role

This full-time, on-site Substitute Teacher position with Union Gap School District 2 places you at the heart of the classroom whenever a permanent teacher is absent. The role offers compensation of $200.00 per day, and you will report directly to the Building Principal. It is an on-site opportunity in Union Gap, Yakima County — not a remote position.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out the lesson plans, daily schedules, and instructions left by the regular classroom teacher or the school.
• Take ownership of the supervisory and instructional duties normally handled by the assigned teacher during their absence.
• Maintain an orderly, safe, and positive learning environment for all students.
• Support continuity of instruction so students remain engaged and on pace with their coursework.
• Follow district policies and building procedures throughout each assignment.

Qualifications

• A current, valid Washington State teaching certificate is required.
• Prior success as a substitute teacher is welcomed but not a requirement to apply.
• Strong classroom management skills and the flexibility to adapt across grade levels and subjects.
• Reliability, professionalism, and a genuine commitment to student success.
