Senior Environmental Scientist/Project Manager

WSP USA is hiring a Senior Environmental Scientist/Project Manager to lead renewable energy and energy-infrastructure programs across the Midwest from our Illinois Medical District office in Chicago. This is a full-time, on-site opportunity for an experienced professional ready to own projects from concept through completion.

About the Role

As a Senior Environmental Scientist/Project Manager in Chicago, Illinois, you will guide the full lifecycle of renewable energy and electric transmission initiatives. The portfolio spans utility-scale and distributed generation (DG) renewable developments, giving you the chance to shape impactful infrastructure that supports the region's clean-energy transition.

Key Responsibilities

• Direct the planning, permitting, execution, and delivery of renewable energy and energy-infrastructure projects throughout the Midwest.
• Manage utility-scale and distributed generation (DG) renewable projects from early development through final delivery.
• Support electric transmission and related energy-infrastructure work as part of an integrated project team.
• Coordinate technical, regulatory, and scheduling activities to keep projects on track and aligned with client goals.
• Serve as a primary point of contact, overseeing project scope, quality, and stakeholder communication.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience as a project manager leading environmental or energy-infrastructure projects.
• Background in environmental science, with the seniority to lead complex, multi-disciplinary efforts.
• Working knowledge of permitting and regulatory processes tied to renewable energy and transmission projects.
• Familiarity with utility-scale and distributed generation renewable development.
• Strong organizational and communication skills suited to a Chicago-based, on-site team environment.
