About the Role

This Attorney (U) position with the City of Columbus places you on the Property Action Team, where you will handle legal matters of both a civil and criminal nature under general supervision. As an Assistant City Attorney, you will apply your legal training to advance the public interest, working on cases that affect neighborhoods and property throughout Franklin County. The anticipated salary for this role is between $80,000 and $100,000, depending on experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out civil and criminal legal work in support of the Property Action Team's objectives.
  • Research applicable statutes, ordinances, and case law to build and defend the City's positions.
  • Prepare legal documents, pleadings, and correspondence relevant to assigned matters.
  • Represent the City of Columbus in proceedings and coordinate with other departments as needed.
  • Perform related legal duties as assigned by supervising attorneys.

Qualifications

  • Admission to practice law and good standing with the appropriate bar association.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of civil and/or criminal legal procedure.
  • Strong legal research, writing, and analytical abilities.
  • Capacity to manage a caseload responsibly under general supervision.
  • Commitment to public service and the priorities of the Columbus City Attorney's office.
