The Wachusett Regional School District is seeking a dedicated Reading Specialist for an elementary school in Rutland, Worcester County, to help young learners build strong literacy foundations and a lifelong love of reading.
About the Role
As a full-time Reading Specialist – Elementary School, you will support students who need targeted reading instruction, working closely with classroom teachers and families to strengthen literacy skills across our Rutland, Worcester County campus. This role places you at the heart of a school community shaped by Collaboration, Empathy, Inclusivity, Integrity, Perseverance, and Responsibility.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess elementary students' reading levels and identify those who would benefit from specialized literacy support.
- Design and deliver individualized and small-group reading interventions tailored to each learner's needs.
- Partner with classroom educators to align instruction and monitor student progress over time.
- Communicate with families to share strategies that reinforce reading growth at home.
- Help cultivate a safe, nurturing, and welcoming environment in keeping with the district's mission.
Qualifications
- Appropriate Massachusetts licensure or eligibility for the Reading Specialist position (Elementary).
- Demonstrated commitment to enriching the lives of a diverse student population.
- Strong collaboration skills and the ability to work effectively with colleagues and families.
- Genuine alignment with the district's Core Values of empathy, inclusivity, integrity, and responsibility.
