About the Role

Working under general supervision, the Maintenance Assistant/Porter supports the smooth running of our Houston location. This on-site position blends light repair work, housekeeping, and general upkeep to ensure our spaces stay functional and comfortable for everyone we serve. Please note that Santa Maria Hostel maintains a tobacco-free workplace.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out minor repairs and basic facility improvements, such as painting and replacing fixtures
• Assist with routine maintenance requests across the property
• Complete housekeeping and cleaning tasks to keep shared areas tidy and presentable
• Support day-to-day operations and the overall functioning of the facility
• Take on additional related duties as assigned by your supervisor

Qualifications

• Ability to perform light repair, upkeep, and cleaning tasks reliably
• Comfortable following direction and working under general supervision
• Dependable, detail-oriented, and able to manage a range of practical tasks
• Willingness to work in a tobacco-free environment
• Available for full-time, on-site work in Eastex/Jensen, Houston
