Marine Electrician I

Walashek is hiring a full-time Marine Electrician I in National City, San Diego County, to keep shipboard electrical systems running safely and reliably. About the Role

As a Marine Electrician I at Walashek, you will service, troubleshoot, and restore the electrical equipment that powers marine vessels. Working on-site in National City, you will rely on precision test instrumentation to keep critical systems performing to standard. Additional tasks may be assigned as project needs evolve.

Key Responsibilities

• Calibrate, service, and maintain marine electrical equipment to ensure dependable operation.
• Operate diagnostic instruments including multimeters, meggers, ammeters, oscilloscopes, and related test gear to assess system performance.
• Repair, rebuild, or swap out subassemblies such as motor controllers, motors, switches, outlets, junction boxes, and voltage regulators.
• Identify faults and apply corrective action to bring electrical components back to working condition.
• Carry out further duties as directed by supervisors or project requirements.

Qualifications

• Practical knowledge of electrical systems, components, and repair methods, ideally in a marine or industrial setting.
• Confidence using electrical test equipment such as multimeters, meggers, ammeters, and oscilloscopes.
• Ability to diagnose, service, and replace motors, controllers, regulators, and related assemblies.
• Comfort performing hands-on work aboard vessels and at a shipyard location.
• A safety-focused, detail-oriented approach to maintenance and repair tasks.
