Line Troubleman

Ameren is hiring a full-time Line Troubleman in Saint Louis, Saint Louis County — a hands-on field role keeping power flowing safely to the communities that depend on it every day.

About the Role

As a Line Troubleman with Ameren in Saint Louis, you'll be among the first responders when electric service is interrupted. This is a frontline, on-site position focused on diagnosing trouble on overhead and underground distribution lines, restoring service quickly, and maintaining the reliability that Ameren's customers across central and eastern Missouri count on. It's demanding, safety-critical work that blends technical skill with independent judgment in the field.

Key Responsibilities

• Respond to service outages and trouble calls across the Saint Louis County service territory, often as the first technician on scene
• Locate, troubleshoot, and repair faults on energized distribution lines and related equipment
• Carry out switching, isolation, and restoration procedures to return power safely and efficiently
• Operate bucket trucks, hand tools, and specialized line equipment in varied weather and conditions
• Follow all safety standards, clearance protocols, and regulatory requirements while working on or near energized systems
• Document field conditions and coordinate with dispatch and crews to support broader restoration efforts

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a journeyman lineman or in an equivalent electrical line-work role
• Working knowledge of overhead and underground distribution systems and trouble-shooting practices
• Strong commitment to personal and crew safety in a high-hazard environment
• Ability to work rotating shifts, overtime, and emergency call-outs, including nights, weekends, and storm response
• Valid driver's license and the physical capability to perform climbing, lifting, and field labor
• Must be able to work on-site in the Saint Louis, Missouri area (this is not a remote position)
