Research Technologist

About the Role

As a full-time Research Technologist at Mayo Clinic, you will carry out established and routine laboratory work that keeps research programs moving forward and helps the institution meet its scientific objectives and grant obligations. This is an on-site position based in Rochester, Olmsted County, ideal for someone who thrives in a hands-on, results-driven lab environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Set up and run standard, well-defined laboratory procedures in line with research aims and grant commitments, including assays, cell and tissue culture, and animal studies.
• Track experimental outcomes, flag results that fall outside expected ranges, and recommend adjustments to protocols.
• Gather, record, and consolidate research data with accuracy and consistency.
• Perform fundamental statistical analysis and translate findings into clear tables and charts.
• Help keep laboratory instruments and supplies maintained, stocked, and ready for use.

Qualifications

• Comfortable executing routine and established scientific techniques such as assays, cell/tissue culture, and animal-based studies.
• Strong organizational skills for collecting, entering, and summarizing experimental data.
• Working knowledge of basic statistical methods and the ability to present results visually.
• Careful, observant approach to monitoring outcomes and identifying anomalies.
• Reliability in supporting day-to-day upkeep of lab equipment and materials.
