About the Role

As the Vehicle Maintenance Supervisor, you will report under general direction and take charge of day-to-day vehicle and equipment upkeep. Your focus is on coordinating the maintenance crew so that every bus and piece of equipment stays clean, dependable, and roadworthy, all while meeting federal, state, and local compliance requirements. This is a hands-on leadership position based in Bakersfield, where you will occasionally roll up your sleeves alongside technicians during repairs and servicing.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and direct the activities of maintenance staff to keep fleet vehicles safe, sanitary, and fully operational.
• Oversee repair, preventive maintenance, and servicing schedules for vehicles and related equipment.
• Ensure all maintenance work satisfies applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
• Step in to work directly with technicians on repairs and servicing when needed.
• Monitor vehicle cleanliness and safety standards across the transit fleet.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience in vehicle or fleet maintenance operations, ideally within a transit or heavy-equipment environment.
• Proven ability to lead, direct, and motivate a maintenance team.
• Working knowledge of regulatory safety and compliance standards governing fleet maintenance.
• Comfort performing hands-on diagnostic, repair, and servicing tasks when the situation calls for it.
• Strong organizational skills to balance scheduling, quality, and safety priorities.
