About the Role

As a Senior Distribution Planning and Analysis Engineer at Leidos, you will lead the technical execution of distribution planning studies that keep electric utility networks reliable and ready for growth. Working from our Reston, Fairfax County office, you will partner with a collaborative engineering team to evaluate feeder performance, model system behavior, and shape long-range planning recommendations.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and carry out distribution planning studies from start to finish, ensuring accurate and defensible results.
• Perform feeder capacity assessments to determine how much additional load each circuit can safely support.
• Conduct voltage and thermal loading analysis to identify constraints and recommend mitigations.
• Evaluate contingency scenarios to confirm the system holds up under outage and abnormal operating conditions.
• Develop load growth studies that forecast future demand and inform infrastructure investment.
• Document findings and present technical conclusions clearly to internal teams and utility clients.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience in electric distribution planning and power system analysis.
• Strong command of feeder capacity, voltage, thermal loading, and contingency evaluation methods.
• Ability to interpret load growth trends and turn analysis into sound planning guidance.
• Senior-level engineering judgment, with the initiative to own studies independently.
• Willingness to work on-site in Reston, Fairfax County (this is not a remote position).
