Professional Surveyor

Ferguson Construction Company is seeking a licensed Professional Surveyor to join our team in Dayton, Montgomery County, supporting a varied portfolio of construction projects with precise, field-ready survey work.

About the Role

As a Professional Surveyor with Ferguson Construction Company, you will provide the measurement and layout expertise that keeps our industrial, commercial, healthcare, and institutional projects on solid ground. This is a full-time, on-site position based in Dayton, Montgomery County, working closely with our in-house civil and architectural design teams as well as our field crews.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct boundary, topographic, and construction layout surveys across active project sites.
• Establish control points, grades, and alignments that guide self-performed construction work.
• Interpret civil and architectural drawings to translate design intent into accurate field stakeout.
• Record, calculate, and document field measurements, then prepare survey deliverables and as-built records.
• Coordinate with project managers, designers, and trade crews to resolve site conditions and discrepancies.
• Maintain survey instruments and uphold accuracy, safety, and regulatory standards on every assignment.

Qualifications

• Professional Surveyor licensure, with the technical knowledge to perform surveys independently.
• Experience with surveying instruments and software used for layout, data collection, and computation.
• Ability to read and interpret civil and architectural construction documents.
• Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and clear communication with project teams.
• Willingness to work on-site at project locations throughout the Dayton, Montgomery County area.
