About the Role
This BAS/HVAC Controls Technician position is based in Hayward, within Alameda County, and supports a Johnson Controls (JCI) building automation environment. Working as part of a company that operates under a major global leader in construction and facilities services, you will install, program, troubleshoot, and maintain the building automation systems that regulate heating, ventilation, and air conditioning across commercial and institutional facilities. This is a hands-on, field-based role for someone who enjoys diagnosing complex controls problems and delivering reliable mechanical performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Commission, program, and fine-tune building automation systems (BAS) and HVAC controls hardware and software.
- Diagnose and resolve faults across controllers, sensors, actuators, and networked devices.
- Carry out preventive maintenance and performance optimization on HVAC mechanical and control systems.
- Interpret control sequences, wiring diagrams, and mechanical specifications.
- Coordinate with project teams, building owners, and other trades to deliver on-time, quality results.
- Document system configurations, service activity, and recommendations for clients.
Qualifications
- Hands-on experience with building automation systems and HVAC controls, ideally including Johnson Controls (JCI) platforms.
- Solid understanding of HVAC mechanical operation, control sequences, and networked control architecture.
- Ability to read and apply electrical schematics, controls drawings, and technical documentation.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and a methodical, detail-oriented approach to field service.
- Reliable, customer-focused communication and the ability to work independently on site in the Hayward area.
