About the Role

As a Trip Pilot in the Gulf Division, you will stand watch at the helm and take ownership of guiding the vessel through the inland waterway system. Your central charge is safeguarding the crew, the boat, its cargo, and the surrounding environment by navigating reliably in every condition you encounter on the water.

Key Responsibilities

• Pilot and steer the vessel safely throughout your watch, adapting to changing weather and waterway conditions.
• Protect the wellbeing of all vessel personnel, the equipment, the freight being moved, and the natural surroundings.
• Direct and coordinate the crew while overseeing day-to-day vessel operations during your assigned duty period.
• Uphold and enforce the company's safety standards and operating procedures at all times.
• Monitor navigation along the inland waterways with constant attention to hazards and traffic.

Qualifications

• Proven experience operating vessels on inland waterways as a pilot or captain.
• Strong, working knowledge of safe navigation practices and watch-duty responsibilities.
• Ability to manage and lead a vessel crew effectively under pressure.
• A safety-first mindset and the judgment to make sound decisions in all weather conditions.
• Willingness to work full-time, on-site, supporting Gulf Division operations out of Channelview, Harris County.
