Addison Trail High School is seeking a dedicated music educator to step in as a Long Term Substitute Teacher-Orchestra with DuPage High School District 88 in Addison, DuPage County. This full-time, on-site assignment offers an inspiring opportunity to lead student musicians during a defined fall-to-winter term.
About the Role
As the Long Term Substitute Teacher-Orchestra (Music Director, Orchestra) at Addison Trail High School, you will guide two orchestra classes and nurture young string players throughout the engagement, which runs from November 2, 2026 through December 18, 2026. In this position you report to the Department Chair and Assistant Principal and serve as the day-to-day musical leader for your students.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging orchestra instruction across two assigned classes
- Develop students' string technique and overall instrumental proficiency
- Build ensemble skills, fostering listening, balance, and collaborative performance
- Strengthen music literacy, including notation reading and theory fundamentals
- Maintain a positive, structured classroom that supports continued student progress
Qualifications
- Background in music education with a focus on strings and orchestral instruction
- Bachelor's degree (daily substitute rate of $350.20) or Master's degree (daily rate of $376.47)
- Ability to teach string technique, ensemble performance, and music literacy
- Appropriate substitute teaching credentials for an Illinois high school setting
- Availability for the full term, November 2, 2026 to December 18, 2026, on-site in Addison
