San Diego Humane Society is seeking a dedicated Animal Training Associate to join our Behavior & Training team in Escondido, San Diego County — a hands-on role for compassionate animal lovers who want their work to directly change the lives of animals in need.
About the Role
As an Animal Training Associate at San Diego Humane Society, you'll support our Behavior Programs in Escondido, helping animals who require behavioral intervention so they can become adoptable or remain safely in their homes. This position sits at the heart of our mission to Inspire Compassion, giving you the chance to make a measurable difference for thousands of animals every year.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Behavior & Training team in carrying out training and behavior modification activities for animals in our care.
- Support behavioral assessments and intervention plans designed to improve adoptability and keep pets with their families.
- Work directly with animals to encourage positive, humane behavioral outcomes.
- Collaborate with colleagues, volunteers, and staff to advance the goals of our Behavior Programs in Escondido.
Qualifications
- A genuine passion for animal welfare and the mission of San Diego Humane Society.
- Comfort handling and working closely with a variety of animals in a shelter or training setting.
- Strong teamwork, communication, and observational skills.
- Willingness to learn and apply humane, reward-based training methods.
