What are the responsibilities of an SEO Strategy Manager?
- Own SEO strategy and KPI progress across assigned client accounts.
- Act as the main strategic point of contact for clients, providing clear updates, proactive recommendations, and confident direction.
- Lead strategy reviews, reporting calls, and QBRs, connecting SEO performance to business impact.
- Monitor risks, blockers, and signs of client concern or dissatisfaction, and create recovery plans before issues escalate.
- Identify growth opportunities and propose new initiatives or scope expansions that can drive measurable results.
- Turn recurring SEO tasks into repeatable templates, workflows, or automation.
- Set up monitoring for ranking changes, technical issues, competitor activity, and visibility gaps in AI search results.
- Build recurring processes for auditing and improving technical SEO, structured data, internal linking, and content visibility.
- Monitor how often clients’ brands are mentioned or recommended in AI search results, identify gaps, and suggest actions to improve visibility.
- Decide which SEO tasks should be handled by specialists, AI tools, or a combination of both.
- Create quality checks for automated SEO workflows, combining tool-based checks with human review.
- Maintain shared prompt, workflow, and automation libraries for the SEO team.
- Help SEO Specialists adopt AI tools and workflows in a structured, quality-controlled way.
- Continuously identify repetitive work that can be simplified, automated, or improved.
- Stay up to date with SEO, AI search behavior, algorithm updates, and automation tools.
- Turn new trends and tools into practical workflows that improve client delivery and results.
What do we expect from an SEO Strategy Manager?
- Proven experience building and leading SEO strategies, preferably in an agency, eCommerce, or client-facing environment.
- Strong understanding of technical SEO, on-page SEO, content strategy, internal linking, off-page SEO, reporting, and performance analysis.
- Ability to connect SEO work to business goals such as visibility, traffic, conversions, revenue impact, and growth.
- Ownership mindset toward SEO KPIs – you take responsibility for improving performance, not only reporting on it.
- Practical understanding of how AI search is changing organic visibility, including AI-generated answers, LLM recommendations, source credibility, and brand mentions.
- Hands-on experience using AI tools or automation to improve SEO workflows.
- Ability to turn recurring SEO tasks into clear, repeatable workflows with quality checks.
- Good judgment on which tasks should be automated, which need human expertise, and where both should work together.
- Excellent client communication skills and confident English, with the ability to explain complex SEO and AI search topics clearly.
- Ability to manage expectations, handle difficult conversations, and provide confident strategic direction.
- Structured thinking: turning strategy into roadmaps, tasks, and measurable outcomes.
- Confidence to challenge assumptions and act as a trusted strategic advisor.
- Coding or agent frameworks such as Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, or similar tools.
- SEO and analytics tools such as Google Search Console, Ahrefs, Semrush, Screaming Frog, and GA4.
